Dr. Alaa Abou-Arab

Husband, Father, Author, Labor Leader, co-founder of kNOwBiaS, LLC, and a longtime activist, rooted in anti-war and anti-oppression. He received his Doctoral degree from Temple University and his research centered on the exploration of racial bias among occupational therapy professionals. He has written a chapter named Trauma Informed Care: Historical and Modern Implication of Racism and Engagement in Meaningful Activities, in a text from AOTA Press titled Trauma, Occupation, and Participation: Foundations and Population Considerations in Occupational Therapy. He is currently practicing as an acute care occupational therapist in Los Angeles, CA.

Dr. Erica Herrera

Blessed to have served as an occupational therapist since 2014. Her comprehensive education from California State Polytechnic University of Pomona, Loma Linda University and Rocky Mountain University of Health Promotions has prepared her for the dynamics of patient care. Although she has taught, presented, done travel therapy and missionary work abroad, her focus has been the specialty of hand therapy and the surrounding community. Through countless sessions with individuals having traumatic injuries and experiences, she has learned that the practitioner’s job does not end in clinic but continues into the unique lives and roles of people. Her desire is to promote a therapeutic practice that listens, engages and advocates for humanity by promoting physical activity, supporting individual spiritual practices and encouraging healthier dietary habits for overall wellness. As a wife, mother and Occupational therapist, Erica is dedicated to doing her part to promote the personal growth of all individuals.
